Mona relief projects during 2015-2017

Since April 2015, Mona Relief has distributed thousands of blankets, over seven million meals, school bags and kits to thousands of children so that they can continue their education in the face of adversity. We have delivered hundreds of pairs of shoes to orphanages, clothes to thousands of IDP's, and have put into effect a program where our volunteers go door to door and deliver critical aid to the disabled and the elderly. Our projects span from the capital city of Sana'a to the Governarates of Amran, Hajjeh, the port city of Al Hodeidah, Sa’adah, Dhamar, Marib and al-Mahweet.

Projects in 2015

During 2015 Monarelief.org has carried out 31 projects in Amant alasimah, Sana’a, Amran, Sa’ada and al-Hodeidah governorates, targeting more than 20000 families with critical aid, most of that families are IDPs and  under the poverty line. The organization started in May 2015 providing a number of IDPs fled their houses in Sa’adah and Amran to the capital Sana’a with food aid baskets, targeting them at schools that they live in during June to December. This humanitarian work continued to reach out IDPs in Amran and Sa’adah governorates, whom received the support of the organization with food aid, blankets, clothes and cash for children to buy clothes for Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adhah. In September 2015, the Monarelief started distributing food aid to families who living under the line of poverty with aid targeting for first time families there in seven districts. Most funds came by local and international donors who support the work of Mona relief for first time. Here this following projects were carried out by the organization from May to December 2015. For first time monarelief.org distributed 32 food baskets to some of the affected families in Nokom area along with the camps of IDPs at Sana’a schools on May 23, 2015. Then monarelief.org went on May 31, and on  2015 to Amran governorate distributing 64 food baskets to IDPs from Sa’adah governorate (Al-Janat, Al-Jawb, Al-Mkhaba) sub-districts, also we targeted IDPs there four times more with almost 449 of food baskets with a support of a local donors, in the city of Amran and Haraf Safyan district on June 4, 8, 15 and 29. On July 17, 2015, Monarelief.org gave 400 children in Sa’adah city money to buy Eid al-Fitr clothes, each child received 5000 YR. On August 24, 2015, 250 food baskets were distributed to IDPs at Sawan and Dhaban areas in the capital Sana’a, the project was funded for first time by Khalsa Aid organization in UK. On September 13, 2015, Monarelief.org delivered the camp of IDPs at al-Zubiri school with an urgent food aid. During September 20-21, 2015, the organization distributed 300 food baskets to poor families in (al-Mayna’a,  Al-dirihma, al-Mansuriyah, Bayt al-Faqih, al-Husseiniya, Zabid, Al-Turibah areas ) in Hodeidah governorate of western Yemen. On September 23, 2015, 600 child of IDPs living at Sana’a schools with their families received a cash from the organization to buy their Eid al-Adha clothes. Each one received 5000 YR. With the support of the UK based charity Khalsa Aid organization, Monarelief.org distributed during October 14-17, 2015, 535 food baskets to IDPs, poor families and orphans at Bani al-Hareth and Bani Hushish districts of the Sana’a governorate. On October 18, 2015, the organization provided the Executive Unite for IDPs in the capital Sana’a 500 pieces of winter clothing. On November 11, 2015 Monarelief.org distributed 2000 pieces of winter clothing to IDPs and poor families at Qaa al-Qaedhi area of Sana’a. During December 2- 16, 2015, the organization was able to delivered IDPs and poor families with blankets, clothes and food aid as follows:

  • On December 2nd distributing blankets at Bani Hewat and Sawan areas of the capital Sana’a.

  • On December 3rd distributing blankets at al-Tahrir area of Sana’a.

  • On December 5th distributing blankets at Shamlan area.

  • On December 6th distributing blankets at Jader area.

  • On December 7th distributing blankets at al-Jeraf and Mazada areas.

  • On December 8th providing blankets and food aid to 27 households to IDPs at the Educational Channel Center.

  • On December 9th distributing blankets and food aid along with clothes at Madhbah, al-Suninah and Faj Attan areas.

  • On December 10th distributing blankets and clothes at Hadda area.

  • On December 12th distributing blankets at Bani Hewat area.

  • On December 14th distributing blankets at Qaa al-Qaedhi area.

  • On December 15th distributing blankets at Erat Hamdan area.

  • On December 16th distributing blankets, food aid and clothes at Jader area. 

  • On December 17th 2015, Monarelief.org distributed 500 food baskets at Thahban area under the supervision of the Executive Unit for IDPs in Sana’a.

  • For first time on December 28, 2015, the organization delivered school bags to 3000 students at Amanat al-Asimah and Sana’a governorate.

  • On December 31, 2015,  20 volunteers from Monarelief have completed a training provided by International Organization for Migrations (IOM) on Child protection in order to work  Child Friendly Spaces in the capital Sana’a, the training lasted for two weeks.

Projects in 2016

During 2016, the Monarelief.org has carried out 54 projects targeting IDPs, vulnerable families, orphans, disabled, and blinds in Amant al-Asimah, Sana’a, al-Hudeidah, Amran, Dhamar, and Hajjeh governorates. Also the organization supported the Jewish community’s members in Sana’a along with families affected by flood in Amran and Hodeidah governorates. The 54 projects were funded by local donors, IOM in Yemen, and the UK based charities Khalsa Aid, and al-Khair foundation and concentrated on food security, nutrition, education, protection, shelter, health and GBV fields. The total cost of the 54 projects estimate to $ 150,000 dollars. The Monarelief.org carried out 34 projects on food security and nutrition in Amant al-Asimah, Sana’a, al-Hodeidah, Amran, Dhamar, and Hajjeh distributing almost 4447 food baskets, each food basket contains 25 Kg wheat, 5 Kg sugar, 5 Kg rice and 2 liters of oil cooking, the cost of that baskets estimates to $100,000. Also the organization supported in 2016 the internal kitchen of al-Salam Center for Disabled. In the education field, the monarelief.org has distributed school bags, uniforms and shoes to 3500 orphan and disabled students at Sana’a and Hodeidah schools during 2016, along with supporting 800 orphans at the Orphanage Center in Amant al-Asima with winter clothing and shoes, in addition to supporting disabled at al-Salam Center with school bags, as well as supporting the 453 orphans and 86 staff of al-R-Aytam Foundation in Sana’a with hygiene and dignity kits funded by IOM Yemen. Also in education filed, the organization supported needy students in some schools in the capital Sana’a with the breakfast meal in order to not escape from their schools due to their dire needs. In health and wash fields, the organization distributed in cooperation with IOM Yemen 7000 dignity and hygiene kits to IDPs and vulnerable families in Amant al-Asimah, Sana’a, Hodeidah and Amran governorates. The organization targeted also disabled and blind with these items. In shelter fields, the organization distributed clothes and blankets and non-item food to 1000s families of IDPs and vulnerable families in Amant al-Asimah and Sana’a governorate, most of these items were funded by local donors. In protection field, the organization is working closely with IOM Yemen in Child Friendly Spaces in Sana’a the project in this regard was launched in March 2016 and the project will be lasted to June 2017. We cooperate in this field with IOM Yemen by providing them 20 volunteers who got training in how to deal with children in CFS and they are now working in these Spaces. In medicine filed, the organization now is supporting the needy once with Cancer, Kidney failure and other diseases with the cost of medicine. Also Monarelief.org is supporting now patients with chronicle diseases with the cash to buy medicine in Hodeidah and Sana’a.

Projects in 2017

Since the beginning of this year 2017, the monarelief.org has carried out 6 projects in Amant al-Asimah and Sana’a, Marib and al-Mahweet governorates. The organization targeted IDPs and vulnerable families with food aid, blankets, and hygiene and dignity kits in Sana’a. On January 7, 2017, Monarelief.org distributed 80 blankets funded by a local donor along with 80 hygiene kits funded by IOM Yemen to IDPs at Bani al-Hareth area of Sana’a. On January 8, 2017, for the first time the organization distributed 30 baskets of food to IDPs at Hareb al-Qaramish district of Marib governorate. On January 11, 2017, the organization handed over four chair wheels to four disabled in Wadi Ahmed area of Bani al-Hareth district of Sana’a. On February 9, 2017, the Monarelief.org distributed 1000 hygiene kits funded by IOM Yemen to IDPs and vulnerable families at Bani Hewat area of Sana’a based on a survey conducted by the organization’s team in that area. On February 16, 2017, the organization distributed for first time 150 food baskets funded by a Kuwaiti donor and dignity kits funded by IOM Yemen to needy families in Khamis Bani Sa’ad district of al-Mahweet governorate. On March 9, 2017, the organization, and for the second time provided Jewish community’s members at Sawan area of Sana’a with 17 baskets of food aid, monarelief.org targeted them for first time on December 28, of the last year with food baskets, blankets and dignity kits. On March 19, 2017, Monareliefye.org distributed 51 food aid baskets to most vulnerable families in the old Sana'a city in the capital Sana'a. Yemen. On April 3, 2017, at least 50 teachers in some schools in the capital received food aid baskets provided by Monareliefye.org. The project aims to target more than 600 teachers in Sana'a's schools. On April 30, 2017, Mona Relief Yemen distributed food aid to 60 families in Wadi Ahmed area in the capital Sana’a. This project was funded by two donors in Canada and Ireland. As you can see in the pictures that food aid baskets were received by beneficiaries in that area. On May 4, 2017, more than 250 patients at al-Sabeen Hospital in the capital Sana’a received hygiene kits funded by IOM Yemen and delivered today by Mona Relief Yemen’s crew. During the distribution at least 50 suspected cholera cases received hygiene kits as well. On May 7, 2017, Mona Relief delivering 400 Hygiene kits to suspected cholera cases along with patients at Al-Jumhuri hospital in Sanaa, this project was funded by IOM Yemen. On May 24, 2017, Mona Relief ground crew started distributing food aid baskets on the occasion of advent Ramadan month to IDPs and vulnerable families in the capital Sana’a. Today 90 families in Saref area of Sana’a were able to receive food aid baskets from Mona Relief org. On May 25, 2017, for the second day, monareliefye.org delivered today Ramadan food aid rations to 80 families in the capital Sana’a. Today’s distribution carried out in al-Qaa area of Tahrer district in Sana’a. On May 26, 2017, Mona relief’s ground crew continued today for the third day distributing Ramadan food aid rations to IDPs and vulnerable families in Sana’a. Our team delivered today 130 food baskets to families in Erat Hamdan area of Sana’a governorate. On May 28, 2017, Monareliefye.org supported today the internal kitchen at al-Noor Center for the Blind in the capital Sana’a with 30 baskets of Ramadan food aid rations. Monareliefye.org continues for the 5th day delivering Ramadan food aid rations in Sana’a. On May 29, 2017, Monareliefye.org continued today and for the fifth day delivering Ramadan food aid rations to IDPs and most needy families in the capital Sana’a. Today’s distribution targeted 50 families living at al-Hasaba and Jawlat Aia areas in the capital Sana’a. On May 30, 2017, members of the Yemeni Jewish community received food supplies provided by Mona Relief at a Yemeni Army-protected compound in Sana'a, Yemen. Today’s project was carried out for the third time by Mona relief Yemen. On May 31, 2017, Monareliefye.org continued today and for the seventh day distributing Ramadan food aid baskets to most needy families in Sana’a. Mona relief’s ground crew targeted 30 families living in Jader area of Sana’a by delivering them food aid to their homes in an attempt to alleviate the suffer of the current situation in the country. On June 4, 2017, Monareliefye.org continued today and for the eighth day distributing Ramadan food aid baskets to most needy families in Sana’a. Mona relief’s ground crew delivered 100 food baskets to most needy families living in Nuquim and al-Sabfiah areas of Sana’a.  Also today the organization targeted 20 disabled people during the distribution. On June 6, 2017, Monareliefye.org continued today and for the ninth day distributing Ramadan food aid baskets to most needy families in Sana’a. Mona relief’s ground crew delivered 70 food baskets to most needy families living in Bani Hewat area of Bani al-Harith district of Sana’a. On June 19, 2017, Monareliefye.org delivered food aid baskets to 100 families from different areas in the capital Sana’a. On June 20, 2017, Mona Relief delvers electric wheelchair to a disabled student in order to be able to go the Sana'a university from his home. On June 24, 2017, Monareliefye.org delivers kids in Sana’a Eid al-fitr clothes and toys. On July 27, 2017, Mona Relief delivers 52 families of IDPs from Nehim to Sana'a. On July 31, 2017, Mona Relief provided 75 families of special needs in the capital Sana'a. August 8, 2017 a 12-member family, among them 8 blinds received a rent for a year of their home along with food baskets for a year as well. This family fled from Nehim area to Sana'a due to the ongoing way in that area. On August 17, 2017, a 8-member family, among them 3 disabled one of them is blind too living in the capital Sana'a receives food aid baskets for 5 months from August to September 2017. On August 20, 2017, Mona relief pays the cost of medical surgery to a person in Sana'a wasn't able to pay the cost of the sugery. On September 1, 2017, Meat of sacrifice was distributed today by @monareliefye's team in Sanaa. Our project was funded by our donors in Kuwait. September 27-28, 2017, 107 families in al-Raha area of Hajjeh in northern Yemen received food packs from the crew of Monareliefye.org.

Mona Relief's projects in 2018

Mona Relief has carried out more than 68 projects during the last year 2018 in fields of food security, shelter, education, health and wash in which we could reach out 10000+ families in different parts in Yemen.

Our projects during 2018 were funded by Mona Relief's online fundraising campaigns along with  our partners IOM in Yemen (The International Organization for Migration), Khalsa Aid in the UK, Humanity First in Germany, Partners Relief and Development in the USA, and Schools for Peace in Poland, along with some anonymous donors from Kuwait and Oman.

Projects were carried out in Hodeidah, Hajjah, Sana'a, Dhamar, Jouf, Mahweet, Taiz provinces.
